VAUGHAN, Arthur Montague, farmer; b. Woodstock, Vt., Aug. 4, 1869; s. George H. and Frances (Montague) Vaughan; prep. edn. Woodstock High Sch.; grad. State Agrl. Coll., Vt., 1898; m. Belle Morse, of Randolph, Vt., Jan. 16, 1900; 2 children, Dorothy Morse Emma Frances. Mem. State Bd. of Agr., Vt., 1906-8; state commr. of forestry, 1906-8; mem. Vt. Ho. of Rep., 1912; now mgr. Shelburne Farms. Progressive. Protestant. Address: Shelburne, Vt.

VAUGHAN, Arthur Montague, Randolph. Farmer. Born Woodstock, Aug. 4, 1869; son of George Harlow and Frances Caroline (Montague) Vaughan. Graduate of Woodstock High School; University of Vermont, Department of Agriculture, class of 1898, with degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. In 1900 married Belle Thaver Morse of Randolph; they have two daughters, Dorothy Morse and Emma Frances. Spent vacations on his father's farm; taught rural schools; was employed in Florida one winter, where he helped pick and pack oranges; entered college and did any kind of work available to help pay expenses; succeeding graduation was manager of Cloudland Farm, Pomfret, and Kalmia Fruit Farm, Woodwardvillc, Md.; three years instructor in agriculture and manager of the farm at The Farm and Trade's School, Thompson's Island, Boston Harbor, during which time he planted a sixteen acre apple and plum orchard in Randolph, to which place he moved in October, 1904. Manager Randolph Co-operative Creamery since 1906; leader of U. V. M. Glee Club during senior year in college. A Republican; member Board of Agriculture and commissioner of Forestry under appointment of Gov. Fletcher D. Proctor 1907-8; treasurer Vermont State Horticultural Society since 1905. Member Christian Church of Woodstock; of the Twentieth Century Club of Boston, and Vermont Association of Boston while at the Farm and Trade's School; present senior warden in the Randolph Masonic lodge; demitted from Odd Fellows lodge at Woodstock; master of West Randolph Grange 1908-9; treasurer Central Vermont Grange since 1908.
