Ada May (GAMMON) VAUGHN - obituary
Ada May Vaughn

PERU - Ada May Vaughn, 98 of Peru, died at her residence on January 23, 2009. She was born in Hartford on Nov. 10, 1910, the daughter of the late Percy and Nellie (Thurlow) Gammon. She was educated in Hartford Center schools. Ada married Eldon G. Dolloff on December 25, 1926 and he died in 1941. She married Archie Vaughn on December 15, 1945 and he died in 1979. Ada loved to cook and clean house and was especially happy gardening for flowers and vegetables. Ada is survived by two sons, Richard Dolloff and his wife, Patricia, and Robert Dolloff and his wife, Shirley, all of Peru; one daughter, Rita Nussbaumer and her husband, John of Deltona Beach, FL; two brothers, Marshall Gammon of Hartford and Roger Gammon of Sumner; one sister, Dorothy Hiscock of Livermore; one sister-in-law, Jean Gammon of Hartford; 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend thanks to the Elsemore and Dixfield Clinic for the care and compassion given Ada during her illness. Graveside services will be held at the Damon Cemetery in the spring at a time to be announced by Andrews Funeral Home, High Street, Buckfield. Memorials in Ada's memory are suggested to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 819, Lewiston, ME 04240.

Editor's Note:
Ada's second husband, Archibald "Archie" VAUGHN 1902-1979, was the son of Arthur Gerald & Eleandor (KAIZER) VAUGHAN. It was Archie that changed the spelling of his last name during World War II. All of their descendants have the shortened spelling.
