| Hyrum James ORTON obituary |
Hyrum James Orton one of the pioneer residents of North Ogden, aged 65 years, died this morning at 1 o'clock at the family residence from a paralytic stroke. The home is quarantined for smallpox, several of his children being ill with the disease. Mr. Orton was born at E. T. City, Tooele county, Utah, January 2, 1856, and was the son of John and Mary Ann Ward Orton. When a child the family moved to North Ogden, where they have resided ever since. He was a member of the Ogden Stake High Priests 'quorum.
Surviving are his wife and the following children: Hyrum F., Thomas E., Sarah McIntyre, Joseph A., William H., Esther and Leon J. Orton; also 14 grandchildren. The body is in charge of Larkin & Sons. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at the grave in North Ogden Cemetery, Bishop Frederick Barker presiding. Floral offerings may be left at Larkin's chapel until 9 a.m. Thursday.
