Oran Vaughan obituary 1940 - 2009
Oran R. Vaughan, 68, of East Hartford, born June 30, 1940, passed away Monday, (June 15, 2009) after a brief battle with cancer.

Oran lived his days on his feet. Every morning, with a strong desire to stay active, he would wake up with a fresh cup of coffee in his hand, a smile on his face, and a positive outlook as he planned out the day's activities. He enjoyed bowling on Wednesdays and was a huge fan of golf which he played during the summer and followed yearlong on television. Perhaps his most noticeable pastime though was the upkeep of his yard. He took great pride in manicuring his lawn and surrounding shrubbery. His enthusiasm and dedication were not limited however, as he was always there with a helping hand for a friend and especially his loved ones in time of need.

Oran was the son of the late John and Irene Vaughan.

He has left behind his dear wife Mary Vaughan of 47 years; daughter Patricia Vaughan, daughter Elle Vaughan and her partner Stephanie Scribner of Portland; son Kevin and Darlene Vaughan of Tolland; daughter Amy Vecchiarino and her husband Claudio of Hebron.

He leaves nine grandchildren: Jordan, Stephanie, Anastasia and Trey Salvatore, Ryan and Zachary Vaughan, Ariana, Ciara and Giovanni Vecchiarino.

He will be missed by sister Shirley and husband Walter Stetson, sister Lillian and husband Herman Gernhardt, as well as sisters, Irene Savoie, Linda Smith and Nancy Gressman; and many nieces and nephews.

Oran is predeceased by his brother John and wife Norma, his brothers-in-law, Eugene Savoie, Galin Smith and Earl Gressman and other friends and relatives.

WE LOVE AND MISS YOU! Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 9 a.m. from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
